Babe Ruth trivia?
Babe is best known for his home runs. I feel he was the most complete baseball player. For a big man he had 124 career stolen bases. Here’s my question, How many of Babe Ruths 714 homers were inside the park?
10…
“The public is always fed those same old 4 or 5 old newsreels of Babe Ruth rounding the bases after hitting a home run. Unfortunately there is almost no footage of the younger Babe Ruth. All we see are films from the late 1920s, an aging Ruth a lot heavier. Harry Hooper gives a description of Ruth when he first came to the Red Sox todays fans never see, lean, big biceps, flat stomach, broad shouders and a good base runner. Ruth did have 10 steals of home and ten inside the park home runs in his career. Of all players in the history of the game who played after 1900, weighing 210 LBs or more Ruth has the most triples, 136. Triples were more plentiful in Ruth’s time, bigger parks, but the game was the same for everyone. Add to that no team played Ruth shallow, if he hit a triple he earned it.”
