Protection for skateboarding (for men)?
I asked this question before but was not politically correct enough apparentely since the question was reported by some doofus.
After watching countless videos on the internet and seeing skateboarders falling on rails landing right in between their legs, you would think there are some specialized padding for skaters.
I know about jock straps for hockey/baseball, etc, but those are not enough to protect the entire under-area.
Is there anything available for protection like a skater-diaper? It sounds uncool perhaps but better than hanging yourself up on a rail…if you know what I mean.
Actually, a jockstrap with a cup is the best thing to wear for something like this. The cup will give you all the protection you need as long as it’s a “banana style” cup. These cups are contoured to fit guys better. They are curved and tapered so they go under your stuff as well as protect them from the front.
Some brands even have flexible sides to increase their comfort, like the Bike Performance Elite and the XO Pro cup. I’ve used both for sports and they are great.
You could get the cup with special compression shorts that have a special pocket built in for the cup, but I think a jockstrap would be better. First of all they are a lot cheaper then the compression shorts. No one else will be able to tell you’re wearing a jock/cup under your clothes while skateboarding. Well … unless they feel you up or something. But then I guess you’ve made a friend!
But some sliding shorts come down kind of low on the leg to give more padding for when guys slide into bases. So you’d want to make sure not to wear any shorts over them unless they come down lower on your leg. Unless you don’t care that people know you’re wearing them.
