are video games going to be considered sports in the future?
Video games have already increased a ton in popularity in the last 20 or so years, and are still growing rapidly to this day. Tournament holders such as Major League Gaming have monthly tournaments all over united states, people also have contracts with them and makle over a million dollars a year just to play video games. EspN has also agree’d to show coverage of the tournaments of the 2008 season, and people with the channel g4 already can watch it on tv.
So my question is do you think that in the next 20 or so years video games will be about as popular as sports? i personally think that viedo games will be around as popular as football or baseball in the next 20 years.
And to people who think it will be as popular, do you think that within the next 20 years schools will have video game teams like like a football team that have to practice everyday and go to meets vs other schools ? it would be funny to see a kid walking around a high school with a gaming lettermens jacket.
Well, some will. There are games which require strength, will and intelligent (I know it sounds pathetic to some people) But games which require the Wii for example will probably need you to use your aiming skills, your endurance in holding your freaking hand up!!
and the ability to target and predict what’s gunna happen next.
So my answer is, yes… And who knows! maybe 3D games will come out, forcing you to directly interact with the game?
