washing baseball caps?
i’ve seen those plastic frames to put them in so they don’t lose their shape. but do you HAVE to use one of those? and i know to put them into the dish washer and not the wash machine. but could the hat get ruined in any way? i read on here that some hats have cardboard in the bill, how would you know if it’s cardboard or plastic? and do you have to buy special detergent? i also read on here that dish detergents have bleach in them.

My husband wears nothing but baseball caps and I wash them in the washer using the shaper thing you mentioned. I use to wash them in the dishwasher – on the top rack ONLY – but then I got the shaper thing and it is so much better in the washer.
The trick is to let the cap fully dry in the shaper thing then you can reshape it once it’s dry.
I don’t think you can tell the difference between the cardboard or plastic until they are falling apart and by then it’s to late for it so I’d suggest getting the shaper thing and wash it with like colors. If you rinse in vinegar 1st the colors will last longer. This is good for all fabrics.
