BASEBALL AMERICA’S PASTIME

BASEBALL AMERICA'S PASTIME
Do you believe that football has surpassed baseball as America’s ‘national pastime’?

If so, why?
Hey Dhepcat…this is filed under AMERICAN football. I am OF COURSE not talking about soccer.

yes, and it began to do so after television came along. American football is much more friendly to television viewing than baseball is, mainly because most of the action can be contained in the camera shot. Basketball is another example of a sport whose popularity has been enhanced by television, while hockey has been unable to capitalize on the tube because of the difficulties of following the puck on a conventional TV (though HD televisions are clear enough to pick it up).

Another reason is that the NFL has done a far better job at running its league’s affairs than baseball has. All thirty-two teams (save for one or two badly run franchises) have at least a halfway decent chance at the playoffs every year. The same cannot be said for baseball.
