The DH – Does It Help Or Hurt The Game Of Baseball?
Many people think that a DH is not considered to be a complete ball player. Therefore should never be considered for the MVP award. Many say that since it’s part of the American League rules it’s okay to include the DH when determining the MVP award. What’s your take on this subject? Please valid answers only.
If the MVP is awarded to Ortiz it will mean that the very significant defensive contributions of Dye, Jeter and Mauer are of no value. It will also mean that the on field leadership qualities that Jeter and to a lesser degree Mauer bring to their teams also have no value. That shouldn’t be allowed to happen, preventing runs has to be worth at least as much as creating them.
Let the DH’s get their own award, call it the Blomberg
